I was proud to stand with Dr. Cameron Webb at the Rappahannock Community Gathering for Peace and Justice last Sunday at Eldon Farms in Sperryville. The results are in, and I am sorry to say we did not prevail. I offer my sincere congratulations to Dr.Cameron Webb for his decisive win and my appreciation to all my fellow candidates for running great campaigns.

This grassroots effort was always an uphill battle. We kept fighting against all the odds because we had something to contribute to the conversation around the numerous issues that face us today. We offered ideas about investing in infrastructure and rural broadband, fighting climate change, fixing healthcare and addressing inequalities and injustice. And I am incredibly grateful and honored that so many of you agreed.

We had to fight hard for every vote, and I’m proud of what we accomplished during a pandemic that required rewriting the book. I want to thank my campaign staff, all our generous supporters, every person who voted for us, and every single volunteer who made time for us.

Now that the primary is over, this is a time for unity. We have a unique opportunity to flip this seat, and it’s imperative that we do so. I pledge to give my wholehearted support to Dr. Cameron Webb, as I know he would have done the same for me. And I look forward to working with all of you together to do great things for his campaign and all of us in November. Heidi and I thank you so much and wish you all the best
